Biotopic Design

For the last 15 years, I have been designing terrariums and aquariums for a wide variety of plants and animals. The remarkably diverse habitats found in the tropical rainforest are of particular interest to me. I quickly built a large collection of tropical amphibians, notably Dendrobatids and realized that they were the ideal terrarium subject.

As an intern at the Baltimore National Aquarium and the Calvert Marine Museum, I had a chance to see how public institutions designed their habitat systems using new methods that weren’t readily available to the hobby. The overall health and breeding success was far higher when a particular species was kept in a system that closely resembled it’s natve environment. These experiences have encouraged me to design and develop new methods for building displays and the result is Biotopic Design. We can completely fabricate a display from start to finish, using new and innovative ideas. As the site progresses, new products will become available for purchase.
